The look of timber is a great addition to any fresh food cabinet or buffet displays. The warmth and charm of wood adds character to the display and will help you to create visually attractive displays that your customers will love. But using real wood is not the solution. Timber chopping boards are not designed for these environments. Most real timber boards are porous and can harbour food debris and germs, no matter how well they are cleaned. And the longer they are use the greater health risk there is. Many health inspectors do not approve their use for food displays.

But now there are alternatives. There are many display boards with realistic timber look including these Oak White Platters (actually looks more like pine to me!). And there are other woodgrain colours.
